Danger--and sometimes tragedy--are a way of life for MAF pilots. In 1999 an MAF pilot, husband, and father of three was killed with his passengers when his aircraft was caught in a microburst (a violent downdraft) just short of landing on the strip pictured above. Post-crash investigation revealed that the Cessna augered into the mountainside at full throttle.
