Downtown Maseru is a pleasant place to enjoy a light lunch. Dozens of sidewalk vendors offer a number of local delicacies for the hungry Lesothoan. Here, Mel and Rick share a meal of thinly sliced beef brazed in oil and served with a sticky, cream-of-wheat-like starchy vegetable which is similar in consistency and taste to cassava (manioc root). A full-serving meal can be had for about US$1.50.
