In a country where traveling 50km on horseback over mountainous terrain can take days, MAF pilots provide a vital medical service. In this instance when an emergency call was received, Mel Peters departed from the MAF ramp at Maseru, flew to a mountain mission station, loaded a snake bite victim into his Cessna 206 and returned to base in the space of 65 minutes. Without the availability of an MAF aircraft and skilled pilot this man would have died.
