Three Hills, Alberta, is a small rural community of approximately 3,500 people. When school's in (that is, when Prairie Bible Institute is in session) the town's numbers swell to 5,000. Many of the local residents are farmers. The land around the town is very suitable for planting cereal crops (as seen in the distance in the photo' above), or ranching (as seen in the photo's foreground). Growing seasons are short. Seeding of barley, canola or wheat is done in late April-early May, and harvesting occurs at the end of August-early September.
